knitted stories (Benedová / Thingnes)

A project in its preliminary phase. It revolves around the theme of visibility and invisibility, imagination and reality. The anchor point of the research is a knitted fabric and its hidden and visible ( or obvious) connotations - a negotiation between the present and its past. We will research how the process of knitting with a community of volunteer knitters and creating the material becomes embedded into the final drapings, and are curious about how much we can control or direct what the material absorbs.

The project is currently in its preliminary research phase with the support of Norwegian Arts Council, scheduled to premiere in 2025.
